The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College, in cooperation with the Department of Medical Rehabilitation, organized an awareness seminar titled: “Cyber-Extortion Against Women: Legal Protection and Confrontation Strategies.” This initiative was carried out in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security (Pillar III). The seminar was presented by Dr. Zainab Wathiq Kamil and Ikhlas Rahim Judi on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The seminar addressed cyber-extortion against women as one of the most dangerous digital crimes due to its severe psychological, social, and legal consequences. The law provides specific protection for women by criminalizing acts of threat, blackmail, and privacy violations, imposing deterrent penalties on perpetrators. Effective confrontation of this crime involves refusing to yield to the extortionist, documenting evidence, and reporting immediately to the competent authorities, alongside enhancing legal and digital awareness.
