The Continuing Education Unit operates in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research concerning the establishment of continuing education units in Iraqi colleges and universities. These regulations define the procedures for its formation, organizational structure, legal framework, and the scope of its authority and responsibilities.
Objectives of the Continuing Education Unit
The unit aims to enhance the overall performance of the college and to elevate its academic and professional standards. Based on its role in developing the skills of faculty members, staff, and employees, and in recognition of the challenges that may hinder such development, the unit seeks to achieve outcomes that strengthen competencies and improve overall efficiency.
It also aspires to equip staff with proper linguistic skills and sound communication practices, whether in formal correspondence or interpersonal interactions, in alignment with professional ethics and a strong sense of responsibility. Ultimately, the unit strives to contribute to the development of a new generation of students and employees whose primary goal is to serve the nation and the public good.
Key Activities of the Continuing Education Unit
- Organizing scientific and medical seminars.
- Conducting workshops and specialized training courses.
- Offering administrative and legal training programs, including courses in language rules, official correspondence, and employment regulations.
- Providing courses in computer skills, various operating systems, internet usage, and email communication.
- Organizing maintenance training and engineering workshops.
- Circulating announcements of all scientific and administrative courses across the college’s departments and staff, as well as to other universities through the Presidency of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, to maximize participation and benefit.
The unit’s seminars and courses are delivered by qualified faculty members from the college. It also seeks to involve students in workshops and seminars to better understand their psychological challenges. Additionally, it engages teaching staff in specialized training programs, including instructional and guidance-oriented courses that enhance teaching practices.
At the conclusion of each course, the Continuing Education Unit awards a certificate of completion to all participants.
